Businessmen and influential community leaders found the Sasolburg Community Chest in 1990.  Since then the organisation has grown rapidly, extending it's services to Vanderbijlpark, Vereeniging, Meyerton and Parys.

The Vaal Region Community Chest is about people who care about a community who cares and invests in other peoples lives.  It is for the upliftment of the community.

The vision of the Vaal Region Community Chest is to lead in building a vibrant community in the Vaal Region through responsible philanthropy and volunteerism.  It is the mission of the VRCC to serve the Vaal Region's Community by :

• Leading through creating synergy via coordinating partnership to add value to our stakeholders and indicating direction.

• Building capacity through identifying, analysing and addressing the needs of our stakeholders via unlocking potential trough training and linking the need with the resource.

• Being responsible through our conduct through adhering to our set values, policies and goals.

• Promoting responsible philanthropy and,

• Being the vehicle that volunteers can use to maximise their impact in adding value to the Vaal Regional Community.
